The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is an 8-core, 16-thread desktop processor based on the Zen 5 (Granite Ridge) architecture for the AM5 socket, launched in November 2024 with an MSRP of $479. It offers a 4.7 GHz base clock, up to 5.2 GHz boost and 96 MB of L3 cache with 3D V-Cache, delivering very high gaming performance and low latency in demanding titles.
Manufactured on TSMC’s 4 nm process with a 120 W TDP, the chip supports dual-channel DDR5 (officially up to 5600 MT/s), PCIe 5.0, and ECC memory on compatible motherboards, and it includes integrated AMD Radeon Graphics for basic display output without a dedicated GPU. The processor is unlocked for overclocking, supports hardware virtualization, and is compatible with AVX, AVX2, and AVX‑512 instruction sets, making it an excellent choice for high‑refresh gaming and heavy multitasking on the AM5 platform.
